I previously posted about my mothers vanity. It's strange looking at it now. I have now given this vanity new life not once but now twice. It's also hard to believe, considering what I completed today and how it looks now, how this use to be stored in a corner under a bunch of stuff in dark basement for 11 years.
Here is the first makeover that I previously posted. Above is the before:
It's nice, but what I didn't know when I completed this was that I had the mirror to this vanity. I honestly had no idea that I did, nor do I really remember it. I was going to put something on the wall to use as the mirror.
Now that I know the color scheme of this room where it will be staying, this is the final transformation of my mothers vanity :)
I only currently have iPhone photos of this vanity, which I will photograph more closely later but here it is! (I'm over summer and the house is hot). The mirror still needs to be attached as well but I'm excited about the result. My husband originally thought I was nuts trying to save it. It was in pretty bad shape.
I used Maison Blanche Mardi Gras mixed with Maison White to lighten it to a lighter shade. The drawers and done in Maison blanche baguette and the whole thing is done in Maison Blanche crackle. I sealed it with Maison Blanche Clear wax. This is my first time using crackle and I do love it but the humidity in the room kept the cracks from cracking fully but I am still happy with the result. My mothers vanity is no longer hidden in a dark basement and falling apart, it looks like it will actually be the focal point of the whole room now :)
Here is a close up of the crackle and my new knows I purchased for this:
All the knobs were replaced and purchased at Leslie Consignments in Mt. Airy as the paint. LOVE these knobs. Why I never noticed she had these cool knobs before, they are right on the counter, but they really make this vanity and the amoire pop. My mothers vanity looks like a totally different piece of furniture. I also completed the jewelry amiore that I purchased before Christmas to go in this room and painted it to match this vanity. I will post more pictures of them together soon.
