I will be honest, I do not think I was prepared for finally being done with rooms in our new home. I was certainly not prepared for how well they are turning out. It's very emotional on so many levels, that I didn't expect. All that work, and it's ours, our new home. We will be living here? That is crazy to me. It's everything we never knew we dreamed of, if that makes sense. We are truly blessed!
We put the carpet down for the first time on my birthday and I could see how the room was really turning out and I just sat there for almost 2 hours staring at this room in amazement. I am so happy how it turns out and still cannot believe how it looked before. Every other room I could picture in my mind and the living room I was very concerned about because there are a lot of things that I were not sure if they would match, how they would flow together and it turns out that right now, it is my favorite!
Again, here is the before the realtors photograph and mine:
If you notice on the right, the wall is damaged from the rain pipe outside that was not working for years. The damage was on that whole side of the house that caused significant damage in the basement. That was the first thing my husband went to work on when we obtained this house. I will document further the work my husband had to go through to fix it but when we entered the house for the first time, you could clearly smell dampness and things were wet to touch from this water damage. Once that was completed we started the rest of the house. This wall was a left over from that damage. Here is another shot of before of just the wall.
Here are the afters:
There will be no curtains on these windows, I am totally in love with the natural light that is flowing through our home now!
